How is experiential learning better and beneficial?

According to Wikipedia experiential learning is- “the process of learning through experience” and, more specifically, “learning through reflection on doing.”

Thus, in this form of learning you get to learn through experience and what else could be better than this, isn’t it? It has been proved that learning by personally doing it makes the learning process much easier and quicker. Also, it helps you retain information better.

Let’s go through some reasons why experiential learning training is considered to be better.

•    Accelerates learning
The experiential learning method uses problem solving and critical thinking methods, which helps in accelerating learning. This also helps in the decision making process and is always better than repetitive learning. There are organisations that offer global training solutions in such learning.

•    Bridges the gap between theory and practice
The gap between the theory and practice is bridged as you get a first-hand experience by doing what you’ve been taught. It also helps you to retain the ideas and concepts better.

•    Offers a safe learning environment

In experiential learning training, you come across situation and scenarios that you would eventually face after the completion of your training. You get to learn in a safe environment and are prepared for the real life scenario. You can make mistakes during your training, only to become stronger and confident in the real situations.

Thus, experiential learning can be better and beneficial for both individuals and organisations.
